Here are a few Awana videos to help you understand how God is working to change lives through our ministry.

An introductory video explaining more about Awana.

Experience the hearts of passionate kids and leaders as they spread the gospel and God’s Word through the ministry of Awana.

We do our best to raise our children, and when they head out on their own we hope we have left a life-defining, long lasting, spiritual impact.

God is changing the world through the ministry of Awana by equipping leaders to reach kids with the gospel and engaging them in long-term discipleship.

 The Rohrers

Ken’s family attended church – their criteria was that the church have an adult Sunday School class. He was saved at First Baptist Church in Newark NY as a teenager, and rededicated his life his sophomore year of college.

Debbie attended a Presbyterian church north of Philadelphia PA, and she accepted Jesus as Savior as a young teen after joining the Youth Group, which was led by a believer.

We met while sophomores in college and married two months after graduation. In 1976 God led us to IL where we first experienced Awana, and went through Basic Training at Headquarters. In 1978 God led us to upstate NY where we later became Co-Commanders in a small club in Geneva NY. Missionary Marlin Fuller became our mentor when we joined his Ministry Team. Our passion about Awana grew, and when Ken was laid off from his job in 2002, we felt perhaps God was leading us to be Awana missionaries. However, Ken lacked Bible training. Ken got a job in Troy OH, and took a correspondence course with Moody. After seeking God’s will, Ken completed his missionary AP, was accepted, and we attended Missionary Candidate School in 2007. During December of 2009 Debbie felt called to leave her full time position to allow her more time to serve in the ministry, and our support (which had remained at the same level for many months) increased by 20% in 6 months. Isn’t God wonderful?

Now after 4 full years of being Awana Missionaries, we truly feel blessed to be a part of God’s plan to help Ohio’s children and youth come to know, love, and serve the Lord.

And what do we do when we are not doing Awana? Ever hear of pickleball? We both enjoy this paddle sport – it is good fun and exercise. Ken also enjoys racquetball and golf. Debbie provides home care to the elderly part time, and spends her spare time card stamping and oil painting.
